From 1 October, DriveRent is expanding its operations even further. With new locations at Rud in Bærum, and Notodden, the company is broadening its geographical reach, strengthening its capacity in the region, and taking another important step in its growth journey.

In recent years, DriveRent has experienced strong growth and established itself as a significant player in the Norwegian car rental market. The company is now continuing its expansion by taking over the operations at Rud in Bærum through a transfer of undertaking, while also assuming responsibility for the operations in Notodden.

Today, the Rud location is operated directly by Hertz, which is also responsible for the Notodden operation. Following constructive discussions between the parties, an agreement has been reached that will provide a strong foundation for the continued development of the rental offering in the region.

A natural next step

DriveRent already has a strong presence in the area and currently operates locations across Vestfold, as well as in Drammen, Hønefoss and Billingstad. Billingstad and Rud serve much of the same market, and experience shows that further developing the offering in the area will create new opportunities for both customers and employees.

The expansion will enable DriveRent to increase capacity, further develop its locations and establish an even stronger presence in the Bærum region. At the same time, the establishment in Notodden marks an important step into a new geographical market.

An impressive growth journey

DriveRent is today one of Norway’s largest car rental franchise operators. The company has around 50 employees and a fleet of approximately 1,250 vehicles and has been a Hertz licensee since 2013.

DriveRent is owned by Cognia together with the company’s founders. In 2024, it was named a Gaselle company by Norwegian business newspaper Dagens Næringsliv – a recognition awarded to companies that have demonstrated strong growth and solid financial performance over time. DriveRent was also named Hertz Norway Licensee of the Year in 2026.

The latest expansion is another testament to the strong development DriveRent has achieved in recent years.
